When I hear about a low-performing 5th grader, there are a few questions that I ask to set the ground level. perhaps the machine will be able to flesh out this outline.
How much should a student learn?
I find myself considering discussions of a new charter school in Texas, which claims to advance students at 2.5x the grade level progress, in 2 hours per day.

I cannot endorse the St. John's College approach (all college students, for all 4 years, in the same curriculum, largely based around reading of >100 year old works). But it is interesting enough (and for some students, effective enough) that I also have no interest in arguing against it.

yesterday I was a substitute tutor for an hour, for a 5th grade student generally << at a 3rd grade level . I hate phrases like "third grade level", but they are convenient. at least until I make new phrases.
